ABOUT ME
My name is Nicola Dela-Croix and I live in Stamford, a small market town on the borders of Lincolnshire, Cambridgeshire and Rutland, and within easy reach of Northamptonshire and Leicestershire. In addition to being a qualified Civil Funeral Celebrant, I am also a fully-trained and experienced Funeral Arranger and Bereavement Support Worker. I am presentable, reliable and punctual. And I treat people with care and sensitivity.
Sadly, not everyone gets to grow old, so my work encompasses a wide range of ages and circumstances. I have created and conducted funerals for both children and adults, whose lives have been cut short as a result of illness, accidents or suicide. I also arrange funeral ceremonies with the terminally ill, ensuring their wishes are carried out when the time comes.
Whatever the circumstances, I treat individuals and families with care and sensitivity, and can be relied upon to deliver a professional, dependable, and polished service.
I do the work I do because I passionately believe that it matters how we say goodbye to people when they die, and that we are able to cope after they have gone. Talking about death and funerals isn’t something we feel comfortable about in our society. But I do believe that death gives life meaning and being more aware of mortality brings an appreciation of life. Perhaps by taking the mystery out of funerals and becoming more involved in their creation and delivery, we can find a better way of paying tribute to a life lived, and give hope to those still living.
I am a member of the Dying Matters Coalition, working to support changing knowledge, attitudes and behaviours towards death, dying and bereavement, and through this to make ‘living and dying well’ the norm.
Civil Funeral Celebrant
I am a fully qualified Civil Funeral Celebrant, accredited to the Institute of Civil Funerals (IOCF). The IOCF is a professional body established to train, assess and qualify Civil Funeral Celebrants throughout the UK.
It has guaranteed standards for the service provided by its celebrants, underpinned by a Code of Practice and Continuing Professional Development. For more information visit www.iocf.org.uk
My background
I am a qualified writer and magazine editor with 16 years experience on national publications. So as well as creative writing ability, I have extensive communication and organisational skills, and always pay great attention to detail and accuracy.
Funeral Arranging
As a Funeral Arranger I have worked and trained with Midlands Co-op Funeral Services, as well as trained with Green Fuse Contemporary Funerals in Devon. This has given me an insight into the world of both independent Funeral Directors, as well as experience within the larger ‘chains’.
Bereavement Support
I am a trained and accredited Bereavement Support Worker, providing help, information and advice for bereaved people.
